I found this little plate/saucer at a yard sale for a nickle. I bought it for my usual food gifting occasions (someone who is sick, had a baby, just needs a good thought). However, this morning I decided "I" was the one who needed a little pick-me-up, so I made my morning toast and served it to myself on this.
Silly? Yes, but I felt indulgent and I loved looking at the pretty flowers. It made my simple breakfast seem special, and it took no extra effort on my part this morning.
What about you? What little things do you do that makes something simple seem extra special or indulgent?
Love this post! I too love to use "special" dishes and real glass drinking glasses (I hate drinking out of plastic) at meals. Most of my dishes and glasswear have been yard sale, thrift store or auction finds. Another thing that is fun to do during the gardening season is to garnish my meals with fresh herb. Yummy and makes everything taste just a bit more "upscale". ;)
ReplyDeleteI also have a special plate with little flowers just for me Denise. I keep it at our cottage...here I am sure it would get broken. But I keep a little plate with little flowers which I put a sweet cranberry smelling candle which I never lit.... I want to have the smelll last forever...it reminds me when I was a little girl at my grandma's...the smell reminds me of her lipstick on her dresser... when I feel empty I take in a few deep smells and it soothes me...
ReplyDeleteI want to add I keep that 2nd plate in my room...
